About the Job
Leidos is seeking a UX Specialist to be part of the mission solution and help lead SSA’s Digital Modernization Strategy. Join one of our high performing teams responsible for building the next-generation enterprise APIs and modern responsive user interfaces, supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA) and their mission to meet the changing needs of the public, positively impacting at least 65 million American lives per month. We are a team of forward-looking professionals in need of a strong candidate with these key required skills: Strong knowledge of user-centered design (UCD) principles to include documenting user requirements and user needs (and pain points); Interaction/Interface design experience utilizing user-centered methods; designing and conducting formative various user research tests (including user interviews, contextual inquiry, card sorting, usability tests, and others) in both formal and informal settings; and experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations in small and large group settings
Responsibilities
- Conduct user research to identify needs, pain points, and improve usability.
- Design and prototype user-centered interfaces for web applications.
- Document user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations.
- Engage stakeholders to align business goals with user needs.
- Perform usability testing to validate and enhance design solutions.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with less than 2 years of relevant experience (or Master’s with less than 1 year).
- Strong oral and written communication skills for technical and customer interactions.
- Direct experience in user-centered design methods and user analysis.
- Ability to document user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Reside within 2 hours of SSA Headquarters in Woodlawn, MD, and work on-site at least 2 days per week.
Preferred Requirement
- Experience with prototyping tools like Axure RP and Adobe XD.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Pega and ServiceNow.
- Knowledge of responsive design and Section 508 compliance standards.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Prior experience supporting government agencies.
- UX certifications like NN/g UX Master Certification or General Assembly UX Design Immersive.
